East Hallway The east hall starts at the entry and passes alongside the courtyard to the back of the house, or at least it will eventually go to the back of the house. Currently it ends at a 90 degree turn to the north hall, with the master bedroom on the right.
Features The location of this hallway and it's proximity to the courtyard make it a dramatic feature on it's own. Walking from the entry toward the north hall you will pass 2 sets of bifold doors on the right and come upon the family room.
Changes I would like to open the hallway to the courtyard by installing 3 windowed archways with the center one being arched double doors into the courtyard. This same archway treatment will be done on the north hall. I want to make the courtyard more of a central feature to the house as is traditional to the Mediterranean area. The hallway arches will be maintained and we may add some as well.
Color The courtyard will be a yellowish tone of stucco. I want color to be a dominant feature of the home, but the hallway ties into all the other rooms of the house. It will also be one of the brightest locations. The flooring will be an orange variation of saltillo tile. We want to use a light green stucco for the halls which will flow into the other attached rooms.
Furnishings If space allows there will be built in seating niches facing the courtyard windows.
Lighting I would like some pot lights to line the hallway and illuminate some of the niches. I may keep or upgrade the wall lighting that exists. There are iron hurricane sconces that suite the style of the house.
Art Wherever there is space, niches in the wall will be considered for art. |
