North Hallway

Currently, the north hall is a hall with doors on either side and one at the end. It does have 2 of the sconces in it.

Features

This hall has the feature of letting a person walk out of one room, thru the hall, and into another...it could be so much more!

Changes

Major changes will take place in this hall. We will be relocating all rooms on the north wall of the courtyard to bring this hallway to front and center. It will be widened to 6 feet in most areas. The walls in the hall will not be a constant line, each room is treated separately (see plan).

Looking thru the exterior courtyard doorway thru the courtyard and over the water feature will be this hallway. Similar to the new east hall, this will also have 3 arches with full light, full length arched doorways to open on warm days. Because the archways will just be for ventilation and not to walk thru there will be iron railings in the same style as the rest of the home. These will be visible from the courtyard since the doorways are full light.

The reason that the doorways are not used as entry's is because there will be a  raised (12-18") pool spanning the length of the courtyard on the north wall.  This will be used for solar heat gain as well as to cast the reflection of the water into the hallway. The pool will also catch rainwater.  We noticed that the tiled roof causes water to drop in a pattern, so we will remove the gutter and use that as a feature when it rains. See the courtyard link for more on the use of this feature.

Color

Saltillos will run thru this hallway.  The walls will be done in a darker green stucco.

Furnishings

If  there is space we would like to have bench seating or a small bistro table for coffee and tea, oh and if we have money left over, wine and cheese!

Lighting

Potlights will wash over the back wall in the hallway to accent the stucco texture and any niches that are decided upon.

Art

The end of the hall will have an art feature of some kind.
