There's this new thing... well actually, it's very old... you may be hearing about it since "green" is finally the "in" thing. Biodiesel is a renewable fuel made from plant oils. Mine is made from soybeans. Soybeans are amazing in general for all the products that they can create apart from powering my car. So wow, more power to the soybean. Perhaps someday I will write an ode to the soybean.
Oh! So there was this guy, Rudolph Diesel, who was quite an ingenious French dude. Back in the day, that would be the late 1800's, he invented the diesel engine...to run on veggie oil. Unfortunately he did this about 110 years before anyone cared. He was considered a little nutso (which is just normal really) and had a lot of issues later in life. Eventually some other dudes who were financially self interested, and in the oil (the dead animal kind, aka dino) industry polluted the whole idea by using dino diesel. So those guys were lame and made this huge industry which just happens to cause all kinds of problems (to put it very lightly) that persevere to this day! So, if you have a diesel engine you should put something in it that is better for the environment and the world economy. It's really easy, and non toxic! Yay for non toxic. Dr. Dan even plants trees to counteract the very minimal CO2 that is emitted so that your fuel is carbon neutral! We plant trees anyway because of Ginkgo, you know Ginkgo Landscape Design... trees for everyone! As an added bonus, it's fun to go to the emissions place now! |
