LYS is launching a project that has been a long time coming. The idea is simple: raise money for a charity started because of a little girl born with a rare condition called Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita, AMC for short. The way it landed as glitter in a random online jewelry store is a little more complex.

A couple of years ago a man named Brandon Farris arrived home to find a prank box of 53 pounds of purple glitter on his doorstep. His response, sprinkled with salt, “I’m going to *show* you how to properly glitter bomb someone with 53 pounds of glitter.” He left the room and returned rolling a 42 inch industrial fan into his room with the proclamation, “If you’re gonna do it, you might as well go big.” All of us, including his professional cleaner, Bridta (because this man does require a professional cleaner), watched with disbelief and childhood delight as glitter was repeatedly blown around the room with the biggest fan ever. Bridta had an idea…

It was determined that this beautiful disaster would not become trash and could become something greater than the mess it appeared to be. Before becoming famous, Brandon was homeless and lived in his car. He filmed comedy videos while living in his car in pursuit of someday earning money by making people laugh.

His popularity grew and he was finally able to monetize the videos and move out of his car. He moved into the same apartment that he still films in today. When he first moved in, he had nothing. People who watched his channel began to send him practical things needed to live while surrounded by the walls of a home rather than living in his car in a parking garage.

He gave back to the community by filming the opening of those gifts and donating the video revenue to suggested charities. We honor that generous spirit and he agreed that the glitter should be used for good.

Bridta (with an amazing story of her own) began the task of carefully cleaning up all that glitter mess. It was sold, with the earnings sent to various charities. Larger packages of loose glitter were offered and individuals brought together simply from watching a comedian's rise to popularity began creating things from that glitter to support causes near and dear to them.

Through Brandon’s videos his community learned about a little girl named AMC Princess Ana. She is part of a greater community of AMC’ers and her family has started a non-profit called Helping AMC Families which raises awareness and helps others who were born with AMC.

And so what started as a box of glitter half his weight has grown to be worth its weight in gold. It has been dispersed around the globe to benefit others.  The glitter spread from a YouTuber’s viral glitter mess, to the vacuum of a magical unicorn cleaning woman (she doesn’t clean unicorns), all the way to a friend who happens to create jewelry.  Welcome to #Glitter4Good and thank you for your support!

If you have a dream, do something small every day to reach it. We hope you have the best day ever, you deserve your dreams. Go make them happen.
